The prize is attributed by a national vote of the Portuguese, having counted in total with the participation of 346 000 consumers.
Having been distinguished again with this award, it is a great pride for the Municipality, who sees that the investment made by the City Council and the various partners in promoting the municipality is bearing fruit.
Arcos de Valdevez has become a destination of choice for lovers of heritage, culture and traditions, landscapes, and active and healthy lifestyles.
The municipality is linked to the foundation of Portuguese nationality, through the victory of D. Afonso Henriques, over D. Afonso VII of Castelo e Leão, in the Tournament of Valdevez of 1141.
It is part of the Peneda-Gerês National Park, the only National Park, declared by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, which make this municipality a national reference and a mandatory visit.
It is also a reference for its traditional knowledge and flavors, as is the case with gastronomy, wines and conventual sweets, handicrafts and festivals and pilgrimages.
The focus on enhancing the natural and built heritage and on cultural and tourist attractiveness has been a constant, which has contributed to taking the name Arcos de Valdevez further and further.
