New section of Ecovia do Vez

20, April 2021

“The new walkways at Lagoas do Vez have opened”

The new section of the Loureda / Cabreiro ecovia opened.

The project had a global investment of around 200 thousand euros and aimed to improve and consolidate the network of more than 300 km of routes in Arcos de Valdevez, through the connection, by footbridge, of a stretch of ecovia, which is between the Well das Caldeiras, parish of Loureda, and S. Sebastião, parish of Cabreiro. This new path develops continuously along the river, on walkways.

The route contributes to enhance the existing natural heritage, as well as to make passers-by know the lagoons of Vez, of great beauty. Through the access points created by the Municipality, visitors will be able to rest by the fresh and crystal-clear water, or else, in the summer, take a dip to cool off.

With this further investment, the Municipality intends to create more and better conditions of attractiveness in the municipality, to promote nature tourism and commerce, as well as to contribute to the local economy.

It should also be noted that the City Council, in the environmental aspect, has been implementing a policy of enhancing the banks of the Rio Vez and Lima.

In the PROVERE domain, the operation “NORTE-06-3928-FEDER-000044 - Qualification of Nature Tourism Experiences in Minho - Ecovia de Loureda - Cabreiro / Arcos de Valdevez”, was co-financed by the ERDF, operational program Norte2020, Portugal2020, Axle

Priority 6 - Employment and Mobility of Workers, with an Eligible Investment of € 185,500.00 and Community Participation of € 157,455.37
